Cotswolds

Had a bit of a low week with work but Tanya and Amanda turned up this morning to give me a suprise day out which was a lot of fun. We went to the Cotswolds where my dad was brought up and my Nan lives. As it was close to my parents, just outside the Cotswolds in Banbury, we had a lot fo trips there asachild and it has always felt very much like home to me.

Stow

We started in Stow which I have mostly passed through to get to other places. We saw an excellent antiques shop that I could have spend too much time and money in. An excellent pun candleholder and Tolkien’s in spiration for Durin’s Door. And had a lovely breakfast of course.

I also saw this plaque which was very fitting as I am starting an OU geology course in a few months!

Boreton-on-the-Water

In the afternoon we went to Boreton-on-the-water which was busy to a level I dont really recall for a long time with the pandemic. Saw the model village (there is a photo of me as a giant around here when I was 6). Freinds included for scale.

The model village has taken over the little minatures which were going to become homeless. I don’t think I ever got to see them as a child but they were great. I hope one day to be able to be able to/ have the patience to make models this detailed and lively.
